Childhood and early life

Ariana Grande-Butera was born the 26th of June, 1993 at Boca Raton, Florida. The actress is daughter to Joan Grande, the Brooklyn-born CEO of Hose-McCann Communications, a manufacturer of safety and communications equipment as well as Edward Butera, a graphic designer and owner of a design company of a graphic design firm in Boca Raton. Grande has Italian origin and has stated that she is an Italian American with Sicilian and Abruzzese roots. She has an older half-brothernamed Frankie Grande, who is a performer and producer, and she is in close contact to her mother Marjorie Grande. Her family relocated out of New York to Florida before her birth and her parents divorced when she was around eight or the age of nine.

Career

2008-2012: Beginnings of a career and Nickelodeon

When she was 13 years old, Grande became serious about the possibility of pursuing a music career however, she was still a fan of performing in the theater. When she first came to Los Angeles, California to meet with her management team, she spoke of her desire to make the first R&B album "I thought, "I'd like to create an R&B album. They said "Oh, that's an awesome ambition! Who will purchase a 14-year-old's R&B album? in 2008 Grande had been cast in the part of the cheerleader Charlotte for 13 in the Broadway show 13. In the production, Grande left North Broward Preparatory School and remained to attend the school at the school. Grande made her album debut Yours Truly, originally titled Daydreamin' for three years. It came out the 30th of August, 2013 and debuted at #1 in the US Billboard 200 albums chart and sold 138,000 copies in the first week. Yours Truly also debuted in the top ten of several different countries which included Australia and in the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The lead track, "The Way", featuring Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller, debuted at number 10 in the US Billboard Hot 100, then soaring to number nine over the course of two weeks. Grande was later accused of infringement for damages by Minder Music for copying the phrase "What we need to do here is to go back into the past" from the single "Troglodyte (Cave Man)" by the Jimmy Castor Band. Second single off the album "Baby I", was released in July. The album's third single, "Right There", featuring Detroit rapper Big Sean, was released in August of 2013. The track peaked at numbers at 21 as well as 84 in the Billboard Hot 100.

The song debuted during the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards on April 26th April, 2014. The track debuted at the third position (eventually moving up to second place) in the Billboard Hot 100, and it debuted at the top of the UK Singles Chart, becoming the first top-ranked single by Grande within the United Kingdom. The album's second track, "Break Free", featuring German producer and musician Zedd reached number fourth within the United States. The song was performed by Grande song at the beginning at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, and was awarded Best Pop Video for "Problem". Grande along with Nicki Minaj provided guest vocals on "Bang Bang" the first single from the album Sweet Talker, which peaked at the top of the charts on the charts in the UK and was ranked third on the charts in the US. Through the songs "Problem", "Break Free" as well as "Bang Bang", Grande joined Adele as the only female artist to have three top ten songs simultaneously in the Billboard Hot 100 as a lead singer.
